Why Hospice & Community Care?
In our service area, where there are over 20 hospice agencies, we stand out uniquely prepared to meet your family’s needs. Here’s why:
Our Mission, Values, and Priorities as a Non Profit Agency
In 1985, our community established us as the area's inaugural hospice agency. Today, we remain among the select few non-profit agencies, answering to our community, not to shareholders. Our mission and commitment to serving the community has never changed!
Mission: The mission of Hospice & Community Care is to give hope, comfort, and compassion to our community when needed most.
Vision: Our vision for the future is to remain the area’s first and best choice in the services that we provide.
The Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House
Our hospice house stands as the area's exclusive free-standing facility, dedicated to delivering unmatched comfort and care. Within South Carolina, there are only twelve hospice houses. Beyond our in-patient hospice services, we provide local respite care for our at-home patients once a month at the hospice house. This invaluable service not only offers families essential relief, but also a chance to visit their loved ones in a nearby location equipped to meet their needs.
Map Legend: Our service is highlighted in teal. The twelve hospice houses across the state are noted with a star. The Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House is the white star.
A Reputation of Exceptional Service
Our dedicated staff and volunteers consistently go above and beyond to provide compassionate care for patients and families, often referred to affectionately as 'angels'. This commitment is reflected in our status as the highest-rated agency in the area based on the Medicare CMS surveys. We are also accredited by ACHC.
A Commitment to the Communities We Serve
In addition to our comprehensive palliative and hospice care services, we offer invaluable resources to the wider community. These include:
Charity Care for the underinsured
A free medical equipment lending program
Two resale shops
Free grief counseling
Veterans programs
