Veterans Programs

  • Monthly Coffee

Join local veterans for coffee and fellowship the third Thursday of each month at 9 AM at Hospice & Community Care. Gather for a time of sharing and learning. Periodically gatherings ill feature speakers on Veteran-centric topics.

  • Pinning Ceremonies

We are honored to recognize our patients who are veterans with service flags, a prayer shawl with our country’s colors, a certificate, and a special pinning ceremony by our Veterans Coordinator recognizing their military service.

  • Tribute Events

Around Memorial Day and Veterans Day we honor our veterans patients with a “Tour of Duty Stone,” which is placed with their branch of service monument in our Veteran Garden as a lasting tribute. Families and community members are invited to participate as we pay our respect for their service to our country and bless their stone.

  • Veterans Garden

The Veterans Garden on the Hospice & Community Care Campus was completed and dedicated on Friday, September 22, 2017. The garden features monuments dedicated to all five branches of service and memorial pavestones, along with a center flagpole.

We Honor Veterans
5 Star Designation

Hospice & Community Care is a member of the national “We Honor Veterans” program. Designed to provide support and guidance to veteran patients, their loved ones, and the community, we offer veteran recognition and appreciation activities and support from trained veteran-to-veteran volunteers to our hospice patients.

Developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and Department of Veterans Affairs, the “We Honor Veterans” program furnishes focused goals that include: respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgement - all designed to comfort patients with a history of military service and possibly physical or psychological trauma. Reaching those goals requires diligence and attention to specific needs of Veteran patients.
