The Caring Closet at Hospice & Community Care loans durable medical equipment. Serving York, Chester, Lancaster, and surrounding counties in South Carolina, our mission is to make use of the resources already available in our community and share them with people in need.

Borrow

- Community members can borrow durable medical equipment from the Caring Closet free-of-charge.
- Equipment loans are available regardless of medical insurance status.
- Select disposable medical supplies are available.
- Call or email before your visit to ensure we have what you need.
Donate

- New and gently used equipment may be donated to the Caring Closet. Examples: wheelchairs, rollators, shower chairs, transport chairs.
- New and unused disposable medical supplies can be donated. Open packages are accepted. Examples: adult diapers, gloves, bed covers, wipes.
Volunteer

The Caring Closet is 100% volunteer run. Join our team and help make a difference in our community each week! We have volunteers who help lend, organize, clean, and repair equipment.

Not a dime! The Caring Closet’s mission is to lend durable medical equipment to any resident of York, Chester, Lancaster, and surrounding South Carolina counties at NO CHARGE. Our organization is a nonprofit community resource supported by an extended network of churches, service organizations, healthcare institutions, charitable partners, and generous individuals.
We do not ask borrowers about income level or source, and welcome neighbors from all walks of life to take advantage of our services. Loans are made regardless of medical insurance status.
You name it! From wheelchairs to canes – and everything in between – we offer a wide range of durable medical equipment aimed at acute care.
The Caring Closet is currently open once a week on Tuesdays from 10 AM – 1 PM. No appointment is necessary, although it is helpful to contact the office in advance to ensure that the equipment needed is in stock. An office volunteer will assist you in identifying the proper type of equipment and completing some simple paperwork.
Gently used equipment may be dropped off at the Hospice & Community Care Campus (2275 India Hook Rd, Rock Hill, SC) Monday – Friday 8:00 AM. – 4:00 PM.
Monetary contributions from grateful families may be made by visiting HERE or mailing checks to: Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731. Please make checks payable to Hospice & Community Care and memo The Caring Closet. Donations are tax-deductible to the allowable extent of the law. Please consult your tax advisor for specific deduction information.
