Fulfilling Wishes: Beverly Wingate

“Her family and friends laughed and sang Christmas carols in the 90 degree heat.”

Beverly Wingate was a brave warrior for 18 years. Diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer in 1997, she battled multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation treatments, clinical trials, blood tests, doctors appointments, and lost her hair five times. When her family learned that she would most likely not see another Christmas, they worked with their Hospice team, church, family, and friends to host Beverly’s Totally Teal Christmas in July.

They transformed her neighborhood into a sea of Christmas lights complete with Santa in a sleigh. Her family and friends laughed and sang Christmas carols in the 90 degree heat. Weeks later Beverly died surrounded by her family and friends. Her family cherishes the time they were given with their mom and the sweet memories of their last Christmas celebration together.
