Patient Story: Mr. Rawls

“As his feet tap to the beat of his songs, his smile lights the room and warms everyone around.”

Recently the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House had the pleasure of daily mandolin concerts by Mr. Rawls. Mr. Rawls is not a community member volunteering his time, rather he was a hospice patient who has the fortune of a captive audience. As his feet tap to the beat of his songs, his smile lights the room and warms everyone around. Mr. Rawls’ story is not particularly life-changing, but it is often these small moments of happiness that we look back on with sweet memories. It was our profound pleasure to serve Mr. Rawls during his final weeks. He brought such joy to our staff and the Patrick House visitors.
