Thanks to a thoughtful idea from a patient’s daughter, Regina Giles, prayer shawls will travel to patients in style.
Wanting to honor her father, Regina, a Director with Thirty-One Gifts, appealed to friends and family to help her donate “Blessing Bags,” bags that would hold the prayer shawls for Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House patients and help families carry home their belonging.
Those at the Hospice House receiving a prayer shawl will be given their shawl in a new “Thirty-One” bag. Through the generous giving of Regina, her family, and friends, Hospice & Community Care received over 180 tote bags!
We at Hospice & Community Care are grateful to be part of a wonderfully compassionate community and able to receive donations like this for our patients. Thank you to the Giles family and friends for the gift and kindness.

Regina Giles and her mother drop off the first portion of their Thirty-One bag donation.
“Hi, my name is Regina Giles, and my mom was blessed with a prayer shawl from this ministry when my father passed away on February 18th. It meant so much to know that someone had prayed over them without even knowing them . . . Anyways, as I walked my mom out of the hospice house, she carried this blanket home in a hospital bag. As sad as the situation was, it bothered me that this beautiful blanket didn’t have a proper bag to carry it in.
I am currently a Director with Thirty-One Gifts. If you aren’t familiar with them, they sell bags! …and I wanted to see if I could help these blankets have a proper “ride home.” I want to have bags sponsored by my friends and family to place these prayer shawls in . . . I would hold it an honor to be able to bless someone else going through a similar situation. I just wanted to be a blessing to someone else and honor my dad.
